SMOKY'S CLOSET

We are in desperate need of CLOTHES for SCHS students. If you are an SCHS student needing clothes, hygiene products, etc., please see someone in the guidance office. We have items available in Smoky's Closet. If you are an SCHS student and no longer want or need your clothes, shoes, or hygiene items (body wash, body spray, soap, etc.) please donate those items to others in need.

UNDERCLASSMEN SCHOLARSHIPS & SUMMER CAMPS

  • The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, is offering Design Matters, a summer camp for all rising 10th - 12th grade school students (age 17 and under).  Design Matters offers motivated students an introduction to architecture, interior design, and design fields. This year’s camp will be held from July 13 – 18, 2014. It will provide the opportunity to experience life as a design student on a university campus for one week, visit architectural sites, professional firms, hear lectures, watch design films, and complete fun exercises that let students directly experience what life as a college-level design student would be like.  For more information, visit https://tiny.utk.edu/designcamp.

  • JUNIORS:  The Quest Bridge College Prep Scholarship for juniors provides opportunities that help talented low-income students understand an education at a top college can be both possible and affordable. Through one FREE application, students who are selected may receive an award for: a full scholarship to college summer programs, a National College Admissions Conference invitation, one-on-one college admissions counseling, an all expense paid college visit, or telementoring with college students. To apply, you must have a 3.5 GPA or 10th and 11th Grade Students who are wanting to take WSCC Dual Enrollment Classes:

  • The National YoungArts Foundation provides emerging artists (ages 15-18 or grades 10-12) with life-changing experiences with renowned mentors, access to scholarships, national recognition, and other opportunities to help ensure that the nation’s most outstanding young artists are encouraged to pursue careers in the arts. Support is offered in ten artistic disciplines: cinematic arts, dance, design arts, jazz, music, photography, theater, visual arts, voice and writing.  Apply through October 17, 2014 and visit www.youngarts.org for more details.

  • JUNIORS interested in Wofford College need to see Ms. Franklin for information about Wofford's Scholars Program.  Students must rank in the top 10% of their class and have a 28 composite on the PLAN/ACT or 1250 (critical reading and math combined) PSAT/SAT to be eligible.

  • High school sophomores and juniors are eligible to apply to NYUPrecollege. Applicants must be in good academic and disciplinary standing.   Admission is selective, and decisions are based on the strength of your high school academic work and your personal statement. Credit-bearing courses are available in more than 30 subjects to fit every interest and academic need.  Apply online at www.nyu.edu/precollege.
  • Applications for The Miss Tennessee Teen USA Pageant are now available.  Students must be between the ages of 14-18 as of Feb. 1, 2015 to enter.  For more information, see Ms. Franklin in guidance or visitwww.misstennesseeusa.com.

NEW CTE CLASSES FALL 2014 WITH WALTERS STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE

  • Introduction to Music Technology – 80699 – MUS - 111
    Class 2:20 pm – 3:45 MW Conner Short Center 152 (Sevier County Campus).  

  • The following courses will be offered for CTE students beginning fall of 2014.  To be a Dual Enrollment Student the student must have a 3.0 Grade Point Average.  Students will be eligible for the $300.00 Dual Enrollment Grant per Semester to help pay for the cost of these classes.  These classes can count toward the student's Program of Study in the CTE Programs of Study.

    Drafting and Design (ETDD) Engineering Graphics
