SMOKY BEAR 2013 - This little bear is available for purchase for your senior 2013 graduate. It was handmade by a master craftsman of Pigeon River Pottery. A portion of the sales of these cute smoky bears is being donated to the school. What a great way to remember your graduate. They are available in Guidance for $30 each. FYI...This is a limited item. Rebecca McMahan  
Rebecca McMahan recently tried out and made the University of TN Chattanooga Dance Team. She is the daughter of Peggy & Lynn McMahan.  
Ray Smith Hannah Pelham
Ray Smith has committed to play football at Lindsey-Wilson College in Kentucky. Hannah Pelham has signed to run cross-country at Jacksonville State University.
Paris Bentley Sierra Williams UT Dancer
Paris Bentley signed to play soccer at Tennessee Temple in Chattanooga. Seated with Paris is her mother and sister. Back row are her soccer coaches. Sierra Williams recently tried-out and made the The University of Tennessee Dance Team. She is the first ever Sevier County female to make the team and only 1 of 4 young ladies from the State of Tennessee. She will be dancing at all the Vols Football, Vols Basketball and Lady Vols Basketball games. She is the daughter of Kim & Doug Williams and her brother is Austin Williams.

STUDENT VOLUNTEERS

We are in desperate need of student volunteers to help with Smoky's Closet!  We have had lots of donations recently, but no one to help maintain the closet (putting items on the shelves, hanging up clothes, etc).  We need dependable students who would like to start doing this on a long-term, regular basis.  If you are interested, please see someone in the guidance office.  We would appreciate any help!

Regan Morris is an 11 year old student at Pi Beta Phi. His father, Dan is a teacher at Pi Beta Phi Elementary School in Gatlinburg also. His mom, Tisha (Maples) Morris is a 1990 graduate from SCHS. He also has two older brothers that attend Pi Beta Phi.

Regan is now home but he had been at St. Jude's Hospital for treatment since November 5th. His diagnosis is Anaplastic Astrocytoma (3 malignant tumors) and is in the fight of his life.

JUNIORS AND SENIORS

  • JUNIORS interested in Berea College need to see Ms. Franklin.

  • Lipscomb University is offering a Summer Scholars program, July 5-14. FOR JUNIORS -  Courses include Fundamentals of Biology, Introduction to Psychology, Foundations of Business, Introduction to Communication, Fundamentals of Photography, and Freshman Seminar on the Humanities.  Students enrolled in these courses will earn 3 college credit hours.  Must have a 24 or better on the ACT or at least a 1090 on SAT to be considered for admission.  More information is available at admissions.lipscomb.edu/summerscholars

  • All males remember that you must register for selective service within 30 days of your 18th birthday.  Please visit www.sss.gov for information and to register.
  • Anyone interested in gaining a Drivers Ed credit before or after school, see Coach Kenny Ratledge.
  • Students be advised: You are not to leave the lunchroom during their lunch, if you do, and you are seen by a teacher or administrator you will be written up for being “out of area”.
  • There are several community service opportunities available. See Ms. Franklin if you are interested in signing up.
  • If you have a sibling that is a current student at SCHS, please submit a sibling photo to be featured in the yearbook. Also, if any student has pictures of their summer 2012 vacation or their pets, please submit all photos to schsyrbk@sevier.org.
  • Latex can be highly allergic; therefore, LATEX BALLOONS ARE NOT ALLOWED AT SCHOOL.
  • Anyone who would like to register for the Relay for Life team, please see Mr. Brabson in room 309 during 3rd period. Relay for Life meetings are held every Friday in the school commons area from 3:05 – 3:30.
  • Exploring College Options: Visit www.exploringcollegeoptions.org for more information.
  • Don’t forget about Smoky’s Closet. We have CLOTHES!!! Please talk to your guidance counselor for more information.
  • Students from the main building are NOT permitted to come to the CTE building to go to the school store any time during the day. This includes students who are office aides or teacher aides.
  • There is a three day waiting period to get your Drivers permit. You need to let Darlene know 3 days before you are going to get the permit.
  • If you have unused or old glasses please bring those to the office.
