  • CONGRATULATIONS
    The SCHS Concert Choir returned home from New York bringing home several awards and honors. The A capella Choir earned a Gold Rating and placed third in the Concert Choir Class AAA Division, the Concert Choir earned a Gold Rating and placed second in the Concert Choir Class AAA Division, and the Women’s Choir earned a Gold Rating and placed first in the Class AAA  Women’s Choir Division. By earning a Gold Rating, all three groups from SCHS, received an invitation to perform at the Festival of Gold which takes place at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Congratulation concert Choir Members for representing SCHS in such a fine manner at the National Choral Festival.

The 2014 Yearbooks are on sale in the commons area during lunch for $85. Name stamps can be added for $5. You may also order online at www.yearbookordercenter.com. Please use 10805 as your order number.

PARENT'S GET INVOLVED - HELP YOUR STUDENT BE SUCCESSFUL

SCHS has formed a Parent Organization. If you are interested in the success of your student, please call the main office at (453-5525) to find out more information and the next meeting date and time.

SMOKY'S CLOSET

We are in desperate need of CLOTHES for SCHS students. If you are an SCHS student needing clothes, hygiene products, etc., please see someone in the guidance office. We have items available in Smoky's Closet. If you are an SCHS student and no longer want or need your clothes, shoes, or hygiene items (body wash, body spray, soap, etc.) please donate those items to others in need.

SENIOR INFORMATION

  • SENIOR ANNOUNCEMENTS, SCHOLARSHIP & COLLEGE OPEN HOUSES, ETC . . .CLICK HERE
  • Seniors - A Senior Announcement Sheet is distributed each Friday via email, posted in guidance and teacher classrooms, and the board located outside of attendance.  Please pay close attention to this sheet for scholarships that are available and college open houses.  If the scholarship states return application to guidance, please return to guidance and do not contact the scholarship directly.  If you need to be added to the email list, please see guidance.
  • All males remember that you must register for selective service within 30 days of your 18th birthday. Please visit www.sss.gov for information and to register.
  • Seniors: Dolly Parton $15,000 Scholarship is now available in Guidance. Please note specific criteria: The student must be attending a university. The student must have attended a Sevier County school K-12. An essay is required including a photo that will not be returned. The deadline is 05/02/14 at 3:15 p.m.

UNDERCLASSMEN SCHOLARSHIPS/

  • Mountain Hope Good Shepherd Clinic is looking for student volunteers.  If you are interested healthcare or the medical field, marketing and development, or just need community service hours, this would be an excellent opportunity.  Please see Ms. Franklin in guidance for an application. 

  • B. Davis Scholarship open to all JUNIORS and SENIORS: To apply for this scholarship you will need to write an essay of less than 1000 words on the topic below: Pick a controversial problem on high school or college/university campuses and suggest a solution. 
    Your submissions must be sent by email toawards@studentawardsearch.com
    Please visit http://www.studentawardsearch.com/scholarships.htm for more information and to apply for the scholarship. While you’re there, please browse through the rest of the site to learn more about applying for scholarships.  The deadline for applications is May 26, 2014.        Amount of Scholarship:  $1,000

  • For JUNIORS and SENIORS:  The Abbott & Fenner Scholarship Program will be awarding $1,000 to the winner. Students must submit a 500-1000 word essay on the following topic: Every generation faces new challenges and new problems. What do you think is the biggest difference between your generation and older generations? How do you think these differences will affect the future of our country and/or your career choice?  Your submissions must be sent by email to: scholarships@abbottandfenner.com  by June 14, 2014.

  • Students be advised: You are not to leave the lunchroom during their lunch, if you do, and you are seen by a teacher or administrator you will be written up for being “out of area”.
  • There are several community service opportunities available. See Ms. Franklin if you are interested in signing up.
  • If you have a sibling that is a current student at SCHS, please submit a sibling photo to be featured in the yearbook. Also, if any student has pictures of their summer 2012 vacation or their pets, please submit all photos to schsyrbk@sevier.org.
  • Latex can be highly allergic; therefore, LATEX BALLOONS ARE NOT ALLOWED AT SCHOOL.
  • Anyone who would like to register for the Relay for Life team, please see Mr. Brabson in room 309 during 3rd period. Relay for Life meetings are held every Friday in the school commons area from 3:05 – 3:30.
  • Exploring College Options: Visit www.exploringcollegeoptions.org for more information.
  • Don’t forget about Smoky’s Closet. We have CLOTHES!!! Please talk to your guidance counselor for more information.
  • Students from the main building are NOT permitted to come to the CTE building to go to the school store any time during the day. This includes students who are office aides or teacher aides.
  • There is a three day waiting period to get your Drivers permit. You need to let Darlene know 3 days before you are going to get the permit.
  • If you have unused or old glasses please bring those to the office.
