SENIORS

  • Jostens will return to take orders and collect the $80.00 deposit for senior announcements and keepsakes on Thursday, September 2nd. The will also take orders and collect the $50.00 deposit for class rings.
  • Any senior interested in serving on the Prom committee, please sign the board outside of room 226 by the end of school Tuesday, Sept. 7th. All meetings of the Sr. Prom committee will be after school. Please don’t sign up if you can’t attend the meetings.
  • Any student interested in UT-Knoxville, please sign up with Ms. Lakey by Tuesday, Sept. 7th.
  • Duke, Georgetown, Harvard, Penn and Stanford Student? Parent information sessions on Thursday, Sept. 16th @ 7:30 p.m. at the Knoxville Marriott.
  • Niswonger Foundation Scholarship Nomination… criteria for this scholarship: demonstrated leadership ability, good character, intelligence, family financial need, and commitment to return to and serve Northeast Tennessee. Apply by turning in your activity sheet to Ms. Lakey by Sept. 17th.
  • Last chance to have your cap and gown picture made for the yearbook, Tuesday, Sept. 21.
  • ETSU roan Scholar Leadership Program nominees…must exhibit strong character, exemplary leadership ability, scholarship and evidence of physical activity. Activity sheet due to Ms. Lakey by Sept. 24th.
  • You could score a grant worth up to $50,000.00 for our school’s academics, fine art, or sports programs. Visit www.clorox.com for full details and to enter now!

ALL STUDENTS

  • SCHS T-shirts (girls soccer) for sale in guidance, $10.
  • Credit recovery started August 24 and will be after school every Tuesday and Thursday until September 7th; then the schedule will change - more details will follow.
  • ACT deadline for October test is September 17th.
  • Make-up picture day for students is Friday, September 24 in the gym. Any student who did not have their picture taken on August 20 or September 24 will not appear in the yearbook.
  • Sophomores and juniors – Applications for the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts are now available in the guidance office. Deadline to apply is October 29th. See Ms. Franklin.
  • Nestle Youth Leadership Contest available, see Amy Daniels in guidance.
  • Prudential Scholarship – Open to all students who have taken part in community service activities over the past year. Fill out an online application form at  http://spirit.prudential.com or www.principals.org/spirit. This form must be submitted to Ms. Lakey by November 1, 2010. Then, SCHS will select our most deserving applicants (2) and submit them for state judging.
  • 2009 - 2010 Yearbooks are still available. Buy a yearbook - $75.

CLUBS

  • Club Fair will be Wednesday, September 8.
  • Anyone interested in joining the Ski club, please see Mrs. Barnett in room V-08.
  • There will be an important meeting for last year's members of the Science Club at 3:10 on Thursday, Sept. 2nd in Ms. South’s room. Registration for new members will begin after Labor Day.

SPORTS

  • Any students interested in wrestling need to stop by room 509 and see Coach Cronin for a physical form and letter from your coach. Don’t forget practice starts Monday after school.  
  • Bowling: Interested in joining the Bowling Team? See Coach Brown or Coach Sutton.
